Before you buy a used i-Go

  • Ask about the batteries first. How old are they, and how far does it go on a full charge now? Batteries usually last 2–4 years, and a replacement lithium pack can cost £200 or more. "New batteries" in the listing is worth paying a little more for.
  • Fold it yourself. Check the hinge locks firmly both open and folded, with no wobble in the frame or the steering column, and that you can manage the catches.
  • Test drive it. Forwards, backwards, up a slope and round a tight turn. Listen for grinding from the motor, and check the brakes hold it on a slope when you let go.
  • Check it fits your car and your life. Measure your boot, and think about who will lift it. If you want to fly with it, check the battery's watt-hours (Wh) on its label against your airline's rules.
  • Charger, keys and paperwork. Make sure the charger, keys (if it has them) and any manual or service history come with it. A dealer warranty is worth having.
  • Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers you if it isn't as described, even when you collect in person, but only if you pay through eBay. Never pay by bank transfer to a seller you haven't met.

Questions

How much is a used Pride i-Go worth?

Based on current eBay UK Buy It Now listings, a used Pride i-Go typically costs £695 including postage, with the cheapest at £354. Newer scooters, scooters with new batteries and ones from dealers with a warranty sell for more. These are asking prices, so you can often pay less.

How does the Pride i-Go fold?

Pride's lithium folding travel scooter. It folds by hand in one piece, usually in a few seconds, and can then be wheeled along like a trolley or lifted into a car boot.

Can you take the Pride i-Go on a plane?

The Pride i-Go uses a lithium battery, the kind most airlines accept for mobility aids if it meets their size rules (usually up to 300Wh). Always check with your airline before you book, and take the battery's label or paperwork with you.
