About Foldable Mobility Scooters

Foldable Mobility Scooters helps you find a good folding or boot mobility scooter at a fair price, and work out what one is really worth, without trawling through hundreds of eBay listings.

Why we built it

A mobility scooter is often bought in a hurry, for yourself or for a parent, and the listings rarely tell you what matters: is this a fair price, can I lift it, how old are the batteries, is the seller trustworthy, and how far away is it? Dealer websites only show their own stock, and their "what's it worth" calculators are there to buy your scooter. We wanted one neutral place that shows the whole market.

How it works

  1. We search eBay every day in the UK and US, using eBay's official Browse API: a search for each of 54 folding, auto-folding and boot scooter models from 19 brands, plus broad searches for folding and portable scooters.
  2. We keep complete scooters only. We remove batteries, chargers, covers, ramps, hoists and other parts, wheelchairs and full-size road scooters, and listings priced so low they're almost certainly a part.
  3. We match each listing to its model from the title. Scooters whose title names no model we know go into "other brands", grouped by how they fold.
  4. We read each title for the weight, lithium battery, airline-friendly, range, maximum user weight, new batteries, warranty and year, and sort listings into new or ex-demo, used, and spares, repair or no battery.
  5. We work out a typical price for each model and condition: the median Buy It Now price including postage, once there are at least 3 listings. Auction bids aren't counted, because they aren't final prices.
  6. We score every Buy It Now scooter against that typical price, show whether the seller is a dealer or a private seller, flag sellers with little or poor feedback, and warn about prices so low they may be a scam.
  7. We work out distances from the seller's postcode district (the first half of the postcode, which is all eBay shows) to yours.
  8. We record prices daily to build a price history for each model.

What our prices are, and aren't

Our figures are asking prices from live listings, not sold prices, so a scooter can sell for less. Weights, ranges and batteries are read from titles automatically, and sellers don't always get them right: weights are sometimes without the battery. Always read the listing, and ask the seller, before you buy.

We're not medical advisers. If you're not sure which scooter is right for you, ask your GP, an occupational therapist or a mobility shop, and try one first if you can.

How we make money

We're an eBay Partner Network affiliate. If you click through to eBay and buy something, eBay may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and never changes which listings we show or how we score them. We don't buy or sell scooters ourselves.

Brand and model names belong to their owners. We're not connected to, or endorsed by, any scooter maker or dealer.
