Before you buy a used AutoFold
- Ask about the batteries first. How old are they, and how far does it go on a full charge now? Batteries usually last 2–4 years, and a replacement lithium pack can cost £200 or more. "New batteries" in the listing is worth paying a little more for.
- Watch it fold and unfold. Ask the seller to fold it with the button or remote several times. A slow, noisy or jerky fold can mean a tired motor or a weak battery. Check the remote comes with it.
- Test drive it. Forwards, backwards, up a slope and round a tight turn. Listen for grinding from the motor, and check the brakes hold it on a slope when you let go.
- Check it fits your car and your life. Measure your boot, and think about who will lift it. If you want to fly with it, check the battery's watt-hours (Wh) on its label against your airline's rules.
- Charger, keys and paperwork. Make sure the charger, keys (if it has them) and any manual or service history come with it. A dealer warranty is worth having.
- Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers you if it isn't as described, even when you collect in person, but only if you pay through eBay. Never pay by bank transfer to a seller you haven't met.

Questions
How much is a used Drive AutoFold worth?
Based on current eBay UK Buy It Now listings, a used Drive AutoFold typically costs £849 including postage, with the cheapest at £313. Newer scooters, scooters with new batteries and ones from dealers with a warranty sell for more. These are asking prices, so you can often pay less.
How much does a new or ex-demo Drive AutoFold cost?
New and ex-demo Drive AutoFold scooters on eBay UK typically cost £1,699, from £619. Buying used saves about 50% on average.
How does the Drive AutoFold fold?
Drive's lithium scooter that folds and unfolds itself with a remote. It's an auto-folding scooter: it folds and unfolds itself at the press of a button or with a remote, so there's no bending or wrestling with catches.
Can you take the Drive AutoFold on a plane?
The Drive AutoFold uses a lithium battery, the kind most airlines accept for mobility aids if it meets their size rules (usually up to 300Wh). 4 of the listings here say they're airline-friendly. Always check with your airline before you book, and take the battery's label or paperwork with you.
